A safe place to stay. Price is very good for the location. Amenities in the room are good for the price. Person at the front desk was friendly and offered us free tea in the morning. It was a pleasant surprise. Tea was tasty and I had two cups of it. I think he was the owner but not sure.
Ever want to know what it is like to stay at an original Route 66 Motel? Come to VA I-81 exit 132, follow signs to dixie caverns, and look for the sign for the blue jay motel, it is very clean, NO Roches, NO bedbugs. Very clean, just give the hot water time to reach your room, after all the place is 65+ years VINTAGE! And for those who know me, Cactus Jack on Amazon, know I show NO Favoritism, the cost here for one night was $62.00 for two and one king size bed with a serta mattress. Free wifi, flat screen TV with cable service, good parking in front of your room at ground level. We had room 102.
The owner is great! Very friendly and down to earth and has been very nice to my husband and I. This place is quiet and the room is comfortable and cozy.
This motel is very nice my old man and i love it. Its peaceful. And the owner is great hes very nice my old man went to office for coffee and he said that no one drinks coffee but give him 10 mins and hell have us some and he sure did. Id definitely recomend this motel to any one. 5 + STARS.
This is a hotel with a purpose. You get a room, a TV and shower. It's not glamorous, but it's clean, the owner was super friendly, it was quiet. I'm happy to come back if I'm in the area.

I like it. It has that classic look to it that I like, single story layout. Very nice owners. Very accommodating with allowing me to park my truck/trailer and have a dog with me. Right off the highway. I showed up right as they were cooking dinner and complimented the aroma, let's just say it was delicious!!! I will definitely stay here everytime I'm in that area!!!
Listen, when you pull off the highway looking for anywhere to sleep for a few hours on a long car ride, you're not expecting to find the Ritz of Salem, VA. I had reasonable expectations for this place, and it surpassed them. The room was very clean (even the microwave was spotless!), the bed showed no signs of bed bugs and the linens were clean, and the bathroom was clean. What more could you ask for out of a road-side motel? The Blue Jay exceeded my expectations.
